For the Love of Music & Education!

Rockology Music Academy is a dream come true for me.  Not only because it's a place that I bring my children to but because it's a community that brings people together and makes a positive impact on the world.

Unfortunately, our sole investor has pulled out for personal reasons and we need time to secure additional funding.

My Promise: FOR EVERY DOLLAR WE RECEIVE, WE WILL MATCH THAT AMOUNT AND MAKE A DONATION TO ANOTHER PERSON IN NEED ONCE WE ARE FINANCIALLY STABLE! I currently do not collect a salary and will not until this goal is met!

My Story:  At the age of 9, I found the love of music and almost immediately had a guitar in my hand.  My first one was one purchased with birthday money from a local toy store.  It had the amp built into it and maaannnnn, I was rocking!  Our neighbor taught me "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple. From there  I kept with my craft, playing behind closed doors for a long time.   At a younger age I wanted to be a rock star but as time went on, I just wanted to be in a band.  Be surrounded my like-minded musicians that I could work with and have loads of fun.  However, being the shy guy that I was, I just continued to work solo and ended up learning to play piano, violin, drums, bass, ukulele and even tried my hand at some brass instruments.  Still....no band.  Eventually, I did get involved in a cover band playing drums.  It was awesome! Even better, it was with my step-father, Wally.   I don't know if I enjoyed playing out more or just the quality time I got to spend with Wally and my mother.  Actually, I really enjoyed both.  Time went on, I had a heavy school schedule plus working my day job so I had to quit.  While having responsibilities is a good thing, I feel I had lost the opportunity to be really involved in a band when I was younger because there wasn't a business, a community, like what we have now.

In comes the idea for Rockology Music Academy.  I thought, what if I pulled together some funding and started a music school that joined students up in bands that played out live!  Oh man, I felt like I had struck emotional gold and I knew I had to venture down this path.  We opened our doors in Katy, TX on June 14, 2014.  We had 450 people at our grand opening, have a number of students learning guitar, voice, piano, bass, drums and ukulele and can see the change we are making.  In addition, we offer the Stage Rockers program which allows students to play out live every few months (our next gig is March 13, 2015) plus we have music education for children as young a 2 months old.  So, from a time someone is born until they walk that magic stairway to heaven, we can educate them!  We also have a program called SRE, Sense and Rhythm Enrichment, that provides free lessons to students of all ages that are developmentally delayed or mentally challenged.   Eventually, we want to be able to provide more free music education through community reach programs.

We will get there!  I just know it.  We have a strong group of workers that have stepped up to get this done.  Heck, one even covered payroll two weeks ago and another has purchased marketing material with money from her own pocket!  I care, we care and this will succeed!
