Ever Since 2006, The Chai West's Rocking Rabbi (David Lazare) has been doing outreach & working with the West Island high school and Cegep students.
One of the Rocking Rabbis start-up projects was "The Schmooze Club" which was on the cutting edge of informal education, providing free pizza for high-school students in public and private schools of the West Island during the school lunch hour.
The Rabbi wanted to bring the Schmooze Club to the next level & also offered it to college students.
Since 2009 David Lazare (aka Rocking Rabbi) has been officially the Chabad on Campus rabbi at John Abbott College. He is very involved with the John Abbott College students.
The Rocking Rabbi is currently building & renovating a new game room for the John Abbott College students in the West Island. It will be called: "OUR PLACE".
The Rocking Rabbi's "Our Place" will consist of weekly programs and Holiday events geared for the College students on & off campus.
"Our mission is to make "Our Place" a home away from home for every West Island student.... offering the students a fun, clean and kosher environment!" says The Rocking Rabbi.
We are currently looking for financial support from our community within and outside of the West Island.
With the help of the Almighty....Our Goal is to reach $26,000 to accomplish this very important project.
