Rock The Halls For Mental Health

Tax deductible
Have you ever wanted to see your favourite local bands play holiday songs dressed in festive costumes? Gather with friends around the holidays to enjoy live music and laughter? Hear new original music from our local musicians? And at the same time raise money and awareness for mental health programs?

We are excited to announce that Rock The Halls for Mental Health will go forward this year… LIVE and in person Dec. 21 2021 at Maxwell's! Since music venues were allowed to open at the end of November, we’ve been working hard to pull together an amazing event and we are hoping you can support our cause!

Music For Mental Health is a KW youth led volunteer organization that was started during the pandemic to help raise funds and awareness for mental health. Organizers already have several successful online and live events with over 100K views under their belts and they are looking to add the best one yet!

Rock The Halls has many benefits in our community -

  • Heal the community - this fun all ages event will bring the community together (safely under community guidelines) to celebrate music in the holiday season. Last year’s event was described by the audience as “The most fun I had in 2020”, “Exactly what I needed to lift my spirits”, “A wholesome event that had me smiling all night long”, and many more comments about how much the event helped restore their mental health.
  • Increase awareness for mental health - at all of our events the stage is filled with respected local musicians who not only play, they also share information and stories, often personal ones, to help normalize talking about mental illness.
  • Support the local music industry - musicians, techs, venues and many other people employed in the music industry have really suffered during the pandemic, but they still donated their time and talents for online mental health fundraisers.
  • Raise money for mental health - all the profits from the event including tickets, merch sales, a silent auction and donations will be going to the Canadian Mental Health Association to fund community mental health programs. Music For Mental Health is a new volunteer organization with big goals. So for now we are leaving the mental health work to the experts, and we started with what we know best... putting on amazing musical events. Last year, our online events raised almost $6000 and we can’t wait to do more!

The 2020 Rock The Halls online concert included performances by well known local bands Courage My Love, Jessie T, Romeo Sex Fighter, Vintage Flight and several others. We are still finalizing the 2021 Live show line-up, but many of these and more are excited about playing this year's event. It will all take place on December 21st at Maxwell’s Concerts and Events with our hosts Angie Hill & Sarge. Each band will play rock versions of holiday favourites, and some of their own originals to show off the wealth of local musical talent in the Waterloo Region. If you’re willing to help with a sponsorship, it would be great to see your name on our supporters list!
