We are Glenn & Sara Sheehan,
and we are seeking your help, to make a dream come true for our son John.
At an early age, it was apparent that John was developing differently than other children. By the age of two, his various disabilities were diagnosed collectively as Autism.
We have two boys, Glenn Jr. & John. Although Glenn Jr. has moved out and doing well on his own, we would never love our son John any less, or any differently, our outlook for the future had certainly changed. We knew that our child would miss out on most "rights of passage" of growing up. We knew that our child would never have a career, a wedding day, or even move out and live independently; We often worry about what his future holds after we are not here to care for him anymore.
Today, John is 24 years old. He works with other similarly abled young people, in a program that essentially has them performing community services, provides socialization, and teaches them various life skills.
Like any one else, John has various likes and dislikes, but one thing that truly brings him joy, is the band KISS. Despite John's various sensory related issues, we have seen the band in concert on several occasions, and the experience not only strengthens our bond, but also allows John to be just like any other "kid".
Now to get to the point.... Over the years, we have done our best to provide for our family. We are hard working people, and Glenn a retired Marine. Many sacrifices have been made, but outside of a few minor luxuries (like the aforementioned KISS concerts), there really hasn't been anything extra, to allow for a lifestyle that was anything more than keeping our heads above water.
We would like to ask for your help, in providing a once in a lifetime experience for John; An experience, that he would equate to most people's view of visiting Disney World. That experience would be meeting Gene Simmons from KISS.
Recently, Gene Simmons has compiled a collection of music titled "The Vault". For $50,000 Gene will come to your home and personally deliver it to you, and stay for a social outing. For $2,000 you can meet him at a hotel for a large scale event, and have a few minutes to privately chat.
There are many worthy causes here on Gofundme. Im hoping that some of you can find the generosity to provide something that our son will remember and cherish, as probably the greatest moment in his life. While we would love to have Gene at our home, we would certainly be gracious to have our son meet him in any way possible.
