Facial Feminization Surgery - Quality of Life

Donation protected

I, Robyn West, am asking the community at large to help me achieve something I’ve never thought possible in my wildest dreams.

By this point in 2020, I’m sure that many of you have grown more socially educated, spoken out, and/or at the very least learned some things about yourselves privately. It’s forced many of us to look at ourselves in the mirror. Self-reflection is extremely important, figuratively and literally. I am someone who has struggled looking at myself in the mirror for most of my life. First, it was because I was living in a facade. A daily performance that I would preach to my own loved ones was a lame way to live. Extreme hypocrisy. Once I broke that mold and started on the path of being me, my literal reflection grew more unrecognizable and depressing. I’ve worked my ass off to lessen that anguish and am proud of how far I’ve come...but I’m going to need some help with the next step. After much soul searching and growing comfortable with who I am (how I move, dress, and speak), I am ready to complete the steps to love who I see in my reflection wholeheartedly. To be fulfilled, taking charge, and no longer having any excuses not to. We ALL have physical things that we don’t like about ourselves. I’m ready to finally take that autonomy.

I see so many comments of support for Black transwomen and how people want to help directly through donation. This is probably as golden an opportunity that you’ll find to do just that. Put your money where your mouth is and contribute to directly changing this Black transwoman’s forever. Quality of life is something that isn’t too great for most of us. Facial Feminization Surgery would massively change that for me, I could finally walk these streets just a LITTLE more freely. Feel just a LITTLE bit safer. Be able to look myself in the mirror and love what I see. I know that confidence comes from within, for sure, but let’s be honest, feeling reassured and attractive takes that confidence to another level. For me, it would really help open up doors/opportunities that I haven’t been able to grasp, or have flat out been too terrified to work toward.

If Black lives matter, that includes transwomen. That includes acknowledging the intersectionality of limitations placed on us, as we truly are among the most oppressed people on Earth. There’s infinite work to do in that regard, start/continue yours by helping one of us alleviate even just a fraction of that oppression. This isn’t a pity party by any definition, it’s just hard facts and vulnerability. Only with your support, will this be realistically attainable.

Thank you SO so much in advance,

Robyn West
