Robyn Rhoades' Medical Fund

Robyn Rhoades is a 27 year old woman with two beautiful children: Lucy (7) and Trayse (6). She had been working at Buckhead Gymnastics Center for 5 years and grew up here in Georgia, in Paulding County.

Working at Buckhead Gymnastics Center, Robyn was overcome by severe chest and shoulder pain, accompanied by nausea. After the symptoms did not subside, Robyn made the decision to go to the hospital. Megan Koleff, took her and her two children to the hospital, where she was triaged after an abnormal EKG. After having her children picked up, in the company of Megan and Jenn Sneed, Robyn suffered a stress-induced heart attack. With the quick action of her friends, knowing something was wrong, doctors and nurses rushed in to revive her.

Tests to this point have included a CT scan, a coronary catheterization, an MRI, and blood work, in an attempt to determine the potential causes of her heart attack. It is suspected that she has a congenital heart condition limited to 5% of people that share her symptoms. The treatment for this condition includes long-term medication and the implantation of a defibrillator, which will shock her heart were it to ever take on an irregular rhythm. She will be unable to work for a month, but can resume 100% activity and lifestyle after her recovery. The surgery to install the defibrillator is scheduled for Monday, January 20th, and the doctors are hopeful that she will be able to go home soon after on Tuesday.

Friends and family continue to visit with prayers, cards, gifts, and other words of encouragement. Robyn continues to gain strength and feel blessed for the outcome of this trying situation. Although the situation is awful, had she not been surrounded by friends and had she not immediately gone to the hospital, she would not be with us today. Our thoughts continue to be with Robyn as she hopefully recovers quickly.

Last month, Robyn was also struck by an emergency appendectomy that has placed her in a serious financial crisis. She is a wonderful gymnastics coach and hopes to return to her kids soon.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
