Rob Needs Help w/Severe Dental Pain

Donation protected
Hey everyone,

This isn’t easy for me to write, but my pride has been wrestling with pain for the better part of two months now and pride finally lost the fight. If you don’t want to be bored to death with all the details and just want to cut to the chase, feel free to read the summary below. I don’t blame you - I know your time is valuable. But if you want the the full, 1000+ word backstory, I've posted it all over in the Updates tab for you to read. Keep in mind that content warnings apply in the full story for descriptions of dental trauma and suicidal ideations if you need them.

The Short, Short Version

In December of last year, I broke a molar badly while eating. A visit to the dentist showed that this tooth (#30) and the same tooth on the opposite side (#19) both had large cavities. Initially there was no pain from the broken tooth unless food got packed into the hole, so I shifted to eating on the other side.

However, about two months ago, #19 began to hurt and the pain has gotten steadily worse over time to the point where life is honestly becoming unbearable now and not even over-the-counter pain meds can keep it managed anymore. I'm a self-employed independent contractor barely making ends meet with no dental/medical insurance and maxed-out credit cards, which makes applying for new credit to cover fixing things all but impossible.

The Solution

After getting back in contact with the dentist I saw in December, I got prices for the work I would need to get done to get these two teeth fixed and functional again. Between the cost of the root canals themselves and then the posts and crowns needed to restore the damaged teeth to functionality, we’re looking at a ballpark cost of about $2000 per tooth. In reality, it’s probably slightly more than that but I already feel bad enough about coming to you all for help so I’m willing to lowball a bit in the hopes that I can cover the rest myself.

At bare minimum, I need to get at least #19 fixed, as that’s the tooth that is causing the excruciating pain currently. Ideally, if we get fully funded, I’ll get #30 restored as well, which will return my mouth to something resembling normal functionality, as chewing only on the one side has been stressful and tiring. It would also be nice to get #30 fixed before a) it begins to hurt too and b) it breaks further. If we somehow unthinkably blow past the goal, any funds in excess of $4k will go toward other needed dental expenses: deep cleaning, regular checkups, etc.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. Any help you can provide, even if it's just sharing the link, means the world to me.
