Robin Jenkins Hurricane Irma

I’m asking for a charitable donation to help my dear friend, Robin Jenkins. Robin is a Hurricane Irma flood victim AND survivor!
Robin has lived in Marathon Key for the past 7 years working as a 911 Dispatch Operator for the Monroe County Police Department. She is a first responder giving that calm voice to those who call in an emergency rendering them help and support.
With the onset of Irma, Robin was required to be on duty to ensure continuous law enforcement operations in Monroe County. As the monstrous hurricane approached the Florida Keys, the Monroe County leadership made a command decision to evacuate the command center leaving Robin little to no time to pack for the unknown. So Robin threw what she could into her compact car along with her two dogs, and they made their way driving in the middle of the night to Miami. At this point, Robin was placed into a shelter for the remaining of the storm. Thank God they made it out on time!
What happened next we all witnessed from the comfort of our homes while glued to the news reports of this horrifying storm smashing into the Florida Keys. Sadly Marathon Key, Robin’s home, faced Irma head on and did not fair too well.
The days since the storm Robin has continued working as a 911 operator from a remote command post. This past week her duties has taken her deeper into the “destruction zone.” She is currently in Key Largo working long hours, living out of temporary billeting, with only miniscule personal belongings and her two companions (dogs). Due to the poor living conditions and extremely long working hours, Robin’s Dad is planning a trip from Illinois to the Keys to relieve her of her precious dogs (June Bug and Tasha) so she can stay focus on the task at hand – the safety of others.
Robin was informed yesterday that her dwelling on Marathon Key had been inundated with at least 4 feet of water, and has a rotten stench emanating from the house due the sea water and the debris that flooded her home. Robin did not own that home in Marathon … she was (is) a renter, and sadly her insurance does not cover flooding. Everything she owns is basically ruined and destroyed. A very overwhelming and hopeless feeling for anyone.
FEMA and Red Cross assistance will get her through the initial restart of life, but we all know their resources are limited and will not get Robin entirely back on her feet. The devastation was insurmountable! Majority of the homes in Marathon are inhabitable, and it will take a great deal of time before Robin will be able to reoccupy her home and refurnish it.
