Hi everyone. Over the past week, the third-largest wildfire the state of California has ever seen decimated Northern California. While no lives have been lost or any injuries reported as of writing this, so many families have been displaced because of the countless number of homes destroyed.

My Aunt Leesa, Uncle Bill, and cousin Billy lost their home of 24 years when this fire turned its destructive gaze to Greenville. Everything within that home has also been lost. Not just the furniture and appliances, but generations worth of sentimental items from both my Aunt and Uncle’s families are gone.

 

I remember spending weekends there as a kid. It was a lovely home nestled in the forest. I would spend hours playing in their above-ground pool looking up at the tall pine trees reaching up to the sky. I journeyed into the forest with my nephews and nieces where we pretended to be warriors on a grand adventure. These are just the few I made while I was visiting. You can imagine all the 24 years worth of memories they have. Over half of their married life and their son’s life was lived in that home.

 

What the Roberts family didn’t lose is their memories, love for each other, and the love from our family and the community who want to do what we can to make them feel at home again.
