Robert Against Sarcoma
My name is Robert Williams. I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, advanced liposarcoma, on August 11, 2016. I had a large mass removed soon after but it returned in 3 months and spread. I started chemotherapy on March 9, 2017 but my blood count was too low to continue to the 2nd treatment and due to insurance issues, I was unable to complete the doctor ordered 2 rounds of treatment. Three weeks later after my checkup at MD Anderson, they found that the chemotherapy was not working and that the tumor was growing again. I began radiation on May 10, 2017 and spent 5 1/2 weeks in Houston to go to MD Anderson for treatment every day. I completed radiation on June 16th. I am scheduled for surgery on July 25th but have several appointments, tests, scans and consultations in between. MD Anderson is not in my insurance network so I am responsible for the remaining costs of treatment as well as hotel, transportation & food costs for my wife, Cathy, and I's stay in Houston. We will have to be in Houston for up to 30 days or more after my surgery. I have over $11,000 in medical bills and an estimated cost of almost $3,000 for upcoming expenses surrounding my surgery. There will also be many bills we receive after the surgery is complete associated with the cost of cardiology, vein specialist, plastic surgery and the surgery itself. I am on a fixed disability income and any contributions are graciously appreciated. God Bless.
