On August 3rd, 2017 Robert Williams was in a terrifying car accident in which a Honda Accord going 90 miles an hour struck the driver's side of his Chevy Tahoe sending it flying 25 feet away and onto the front yard of a nearby house. A few days later, feeling the symptoms of a concussion, he was advised by his doctor to get an open MRI. It was then that they discovered a golfball size gray matter in the right portion of his brain and the doctor sent him back for a more detailed MRI with contrast. Upon analyzing the second MRI, the doctor's diagnosis was that of a Glioma brain tumor. For this, he will need to undergo surgery to remove the tumor and endure an arduous recovery process.
UPDATE 8/1/2018: His surgery was successful and the tumor was cleanly removed without having to remove healthy brain tissue and the tumor was not malignant. That being said, there still was significant trauma to the skull as a result of making the tumor accessible. He just recently had 30 stitches removed from where the incision was and the wound is still healing. Additionally, for the next couple months he will be taking heavy anti-seizure medication which makes it impossible to work and difficult to perform simple tasks like driving, especially long distances. Now is the time for healing and recovery and as one might imagine, any kind of stress from work or excess physical activity is out of the question.
UPDATE 9/20/2018: He will be going in for surgery on October 4th to remove a Lipoma tumor on the back of his neck. They will put him under for the surgery and he'll need to spend the night in the hospital. Then he'll need a few weeks for the surgery wound to heal. This only further adds to the process of healing and recovery and it is more important than ever that he gets the financial help he needs.
Without the ability to work or generate any kind of income, this GoFundMe campaign is the only source available to keep his house from going into foreclosure, to keep the bill collectors at bay and to have food in the cupboard.
