On January 13th, the life of a great man came to an unexpected end. Our dear friend, Robert Roy, passed away from complications due to the coronavirus. Rob leaves behind Donna, his wife of 40 years, and his daughter Kristina. Not everyone may know how much Rob’s family relied on him.
As an infant, Kristina, had bilateral shunts and meningitis which caused her to have severe brain damage. Kristina has a seizure disorder and is not able to walk or speak. Rob and Donna help her get dressed, eat, go to the bathroom, and get around. They have taken care of her together every day as a team. They both loved their daughter and would do anything they needed to take care of her and help her enjoy life.
When Rob lost part of his leg in 2017 due to Type-2 Diabetes he fought hard each and every day at Physical therapy so he could one day walk through his front door, sit down and watch cartoons with his beautiful daughter.
A few weeks ago the Roy family was given bad news again. During some recent tests, it was discovered that Donna had stage three lung cancer. In the coming weeks, she will undergo radiation therapy five days a week and chemotherapy once a week in an effort to beat lung cancer. Rob had been her rock during this whole ordeal telling Donna that she had gotten him through everything and now it was his turn to help take care of her. The loss of Rob to his family is immeasurable.
We cannot take away the pain and hurt they are feeling, but we can help ease the burden by helping support Donna and Kristina through this very difficult time. Donna has been unemployed since March and Rob was the only person bringing home a paycheck to support his family. We hope you can help Rob's loved ones during this difficult time as they try and get through this tragedy together. All donations will go to his wife Donna to help with future expenses and they try and navigate life without Rob.

Andrew Bernstein is a personal friend of the Robert Roy family and worked with Mr. Roy for approximately 7 years at the Mid-Island Y in Plainview NY.
Andrew Bernstein’s intentions are to turn the funds over to Mr. Roy’s widow Donna Roy to use for family and household expenses and to take care of her disabled daughter.
Andrew Bernstein and Josh Henkel will personally deliver a bank check to Donna Roy for the exact amount that was raised in the go fund me account.
