Help Robert keep his health insurance
In April of 2019, my husband, Robert Roberson, was admitted into the hospital with Sepsis. While there, he was diagnosed with a Staph infection in his blood. He was sent to a long term specialty hospital where he received 6 weeks of IV antibiotics which ran 24 hours a day. They did not ensure he was fully healed and discharged him. He continued getting worse and was in such severe pain that a month later we went to the ER at another hospital. Within 2 days, they amputated below his knee because the previous infection was in the bone. The surgeon said his walking on the foot along with the infection broke every bone in the foot. The surgeon told us that after they removed the foot and got a look at the bone, it was the worst infection he had ever seen. A little over a month later, the incision open up again. Back into surgery for a revision. At this time, they cultured the fluid and diagnosed him with another infection . He was given a 40 percent chance to survive. To date, he has had 4 surgeries. He has had a Picc Line in for 12 weeks which we used to give him antibiotics for 12 weeks. During this time, his work terminated him after his FMLA time ran out. Because of this, he lost his health insurance as well as the long term disability he had been paying for through his job. We found out last week he has beat the infection and his leg is ready to prepare for a prosthesis. Praise the Lord. However, To keep his insurance so that he can continue his medical care as well as get a prosthetic foot, we have to pay the full amount of the premiums - $653 a month.. I cannot work because I am disabled and in a wheelchair because I have rapidly advancing MS. With him not being able to work, and my Social Security disability being only $800 a month, we don’t have the money to pay the $653 a month premiums. I am not wanting anything extra, just the money to pay the premiums for a few months until we can get our tax refund and will be able to use that to pay the premiums. Any help we can get would be so greatly appreciated. Please feel free to share .
