I'm posting this for a good freind of ours that is going though some hard times and could use some help from his freinds and family. A few years back Bob suffered from a collapsed lung and had to have surgery to repair the holes in one of his lungs .  About a month ago it happened again to his other lung and just received surgery this past week and found out today that the procedure didn't fix the problem and he has to endure another surgery. Brenda his wife told us today what the next step is. The short story is he's getting surgery tomorrow.We learned more about what's going on. Only about 4000 cases of lung collapses don't reinflate like Bob's. The endobronchial valve procedure is considered experimental because there is not enough of the procedures being Dr to do a case study. In Bob's case the FDA approves this procedure in a Humanitarian Use. They will use a Spiration Value, the only one approved in Mass. He had to sign a Government FDA consent form. The operation goes through his mouth and it's about an hour long procedure. They will go through the branches of the bronchial​and inflate a balloon. If the bubbles stop they will add a valve. He may need more than one branch valve added.
This is the best option or the three he was given. The other options were one, he can do nothing but he could be here a really long, or two, he could have surgery but that would disrupt the operation he had already done. 4 - 6 weeks from now the valves will get removed. He's an add on surgery and will either get surgery first time in the morning or anytime after 5 pm.
Bob and Brenda have some very hard times ahead of them while he recovers, which will be a long process.  They are not receiving any type of fianancial aid and could use some help during this time.
