Robert O'Connell

Our brother, Robert O'Connell was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic colon cancer in February of this year at the age of 40. It is an aggressive and advanced cancer and it has been made clear to us that he is not curable and any treatments are strictly an attempt to prolong his life. At the time he was given 6 months without chemo and a year, maybe 2 with chemo. Unfortunately, he has had some complications and hospital visits since his diagnosis and we received the devastating news just over a week ago that the chemo isn't working and the current course of treatment has been stopped. Bloodwork and a new scan were done last week and we will find out in a few days what can or can not be done in terms of treatment moving forward.

Robert has full medical and prescription coverage so we are fortunate in that his medical needs are covered, but he has been unable to work since February 22nd. Food and shelter are also taken care of, but as we know life comes with additional living expenses.

His 2 oldest children have recently relocated back to New Jersey so he can spend as much time with them as possible. His youngest biological son (3 years old) and his step daughter live in Arizona. Our goal is to raise enough to fly them from Arizona to New Jersey this summer so that Robert can have time with him while he is well enough to do so.

If we are blessed enough to exceed this goal, all funds raised will go toward activities with his children, end of life and bucket list wishes and ultimately final resting expenses.
