Project Freedom Robert's Story

Donazione protetta
This is my brother, Robert. Earlier this month, while at work he was approached and detained by  ICE ( Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and was taken to the county jail where he is awaiting deportation.

Can you imagine the feeling of one day minding your own business, working, being a law-abiding citizen and the next you're in jail awaiting to be deported to a country that is foreign to you? To be taken away from your family, children, grandchildren and life that you have built and sacrificed for your whole life?

I can only imagine! I would feel horrified and I would  feel myself gripped with a  devastating fear!  As his family and siblings, we are feeling panicked and  scrambling to stop this from happening. The speed in which the process of deportation is frighteningly fast due to the pushing of extradition of immigrants from our current Chief of Staff. This is not political, this is the future life of our brother whom has lived almost all his life here in the United States.

My brother Robert has been a positive member of society here in America for 41 years. He has raised two daughters, Alexandria and Roberta and his two grandchildren Syvanah and Adysin . Robert offers a tremendous support system to his daughters and is there to help provide for his family. These were to be his golden years; to be with family and re-live vicariously through his grandchildren as a grandfather should; taking them camping, fishing, and teaching them how to fix cars.

He did go through all the steps and paperwork that it takes to apply for his citizenship, which is a long and costly process.  But, was denied when he truthfully told interviewer that he had crossed the border line. Therefore, his application was denied.  Yet, we are hopeful that he will be able to stay due to his honorable years here in the U.S. and be with his daughters who are American Citizens in also be able to attain his legal status.

The situation is grave as it is with so many of our hispanic family, community and friends. This could be your Dad and Mom. It could be your cousin or uncle. It could be your grandmother. And this is our beloved brother. And so, family, friends, friends of friends and anyone whom may be reading this story. We need your help and support, we ask that you please consider donating towards the cost of keeping our brother from being deported. The lawyer and court fees are astronomical. No matter the amount of your donation. Every penny is received with gratitude.

With Sincerity and Respect,

The Lomeli family.
