Robby's Recovery

Update:
Around the end of November Robby decided that we could no longer afford the alternative cancer treatments. With our savings depleted and credit cards maxed it was time to make some hard decisions.
By December Robby was trying to sleep by sitting up on the sofa because he couldn't breathe when he laid down.  At some point in December Robby developed a new issue. Even when sitting up he would stop breathing every time he fell asleep. On December 29th Robby had a tracheostomy so that he could breathe. He spent six days in ICU. Robby was not able to work after that.

Robby had to make the tough decision to move forward with chemo and the standard of care that most doctors recommend. In January he had a chemo port put in and a feeding tube soon followed. Robby's first chemo treatment was February 12th. He did well during the all day ordeal but the following day he blacked out and hit his head on the vanity.  His sister stays with him now as much as possible while I'm at work. He was very sick  from the chemo pump that continuosly sent a steady dose of chemo drugs into his body all week long.  He ate  only a few bites during that time.  By the following Tuesday he felt somewhat better and began to eat a little more.
The third week Robby suffered a severe gout attack and had to use a walker to get around. The usual treatment for this could not be used because of the side effects of the chemo treatment.

He has now started his second round of chemo and is  wearing the chemo pump. He is very nauseated.

Some of his coworker donated leave time for Robby. It was very much appreciated but all of his leave time earned and donated has now been exhausted.  Due to our family, friends, and sometimes total strangers being so very generous we are making it on my income for now. We have sold some things and trimmed the budget as much as possible.

I ask that each one of you continue to pray for us. Donate when you feel led to do so. Share our story with friends, family, and your church.  Dan Cain and his church The House at LakePointe has worked tirelessly to raise money for us. It's amazing what a group of dedicated people can accomplish.

Robby and I want to thank everyone who has contributed in anyway. We love each and every one of you. God bless!

Hello, my name is Bethany King, I am married to Robby King. Robby is a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Robby has always been a hard worker, and a family man. He was recently diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma (a type of throat cancer). Robby has never smoked so this diagnosis surprised us.

Robby doesn''t like to ask for help, but his sisters, children and I feel that this wonderful man deserves a fighting chance at beating this disease.

Robby plans to continue to work as long as possible during his treatment, but the cost is so expensive he may not be able to get the treatment he desperately needs.
His sister Mandy Conn and I decided to start this GoFundMe page to help lift the burden of medical bills and daily costs during this difficult time and to make his recovery possible.

The most expensive part of Robby's therapy is his weekly treatment. Our out of pocket cost for this treatment is $700.00- $900.00 per week. The treatments are expected to continue for at least a year. In addition to this there is an extensive protocal for home care. Robby has taken a very active role in his recovery. He has changed his diet and gives himself injections several times a week.

Robby is a fighter and has always "paid it forward".  Now we pray that his friends and community will rally around him and help him fight.

Thank you in advance for your help and may God bless you!
