Robby's fight for sight
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for supporting David’s Fight for Sight.
From a mother’s perspective, seeing your child go from being a jock superstar in every sport to learning ways to feed himself is heartbreaking.
David was diagnosed with diabetes, August 1st 2000 when he was visiting his father in Calgary. He was only 12 years old. One day he wasn’t feeling well and was extremely thirsty, his father who is also diabetic recognized the signs so tested his blood right away and ended up in the hospital emergency room and then admitted for 3 days until he was stabilized. Needless to say his life changed that day.
During all of his procedures, surgeries, trials and setbacks David NEVER lost hope. He never got down on himself, got his life in order and takes care of his health. He takes responsibility and owns his actions and never pity’s himself. He married the love of his life, adores his step daughter as if she was his own and will be a dad in the next few months. He understands he may never see his child’s face but he is not giving up.
He is now part of MAB. Montreal Association for the Blind and has told their doctor that he will go through any surgery and will do anything to get even 5% of his sight back. He just wants to see his wife and step-daughter and meet his baby girl.
The only thing they can guarantee is that all surgeries are “very expensive”. Every generous dollar raised would go directly to finance the medical cost of the surgery that will hopefully help in Robby's fight for sight. The rest of the funds would be raised at the very first annual bro classic coed softball tournament that will take place from September 21 to 24th at Parc Haendel in Candiac.
