I have been a Hull FC fan for almost 40 years I’ve seen most things happen in Rugby League but the unbelievable response to the Rob Burrow MND diagnosis has touched fans from all across the game, the #RLFamily is a credit to the sport. The love for the man, his family and the awareness raised for MND has gone global and I would like to do my little bit to help.
Rob and I have met a couple of times through our mutual love of NFL football, we are part of a group of 12 guys who have a lot of banter through Fantasy Football, we keep in touch through WhatsApp and we have had meet ups and it is a privilege to class him as a friend.
We all managed to meet up on the 12th January for the testimonial game in Leeds this year where he managed to get on the pitch near the end, the reception he received was emotional.
What I have witnessed over the last year has been terribly upsetting and this culminated with the BBC documentary “My year with MND” I would like to raise as much money to support Rob, his wife Lyndsey and three young children dealing with his diagnosis and ongoing help.
I plan to do the Reimagined Leeds 10k on 22nd November on a treadmill in my local gym. As a rather “big lad” and someone who has never run in my life this is a huge task to undertake. I have started my training and parts of my body (I didn't know I had) ache. I will complete this 10k even if i have to crawl the last bit, I'm sure the pain will be worth it to raise money
Please support me in my efforts
Much appreciated
