FUNDING FOR 1ST SEMESTER @ POLITECNICO DI MILANO

Donation protected
Hi everyone

Our names are Poloko Leteka and Tiheli Tiheli. We are both 28-year-old Lesotho citizens and architecture students.

In January this year, we got admitted to Politecnico di Milano in Italy for a Masters program in Architectural Design and History. We managed to pay our administrative fees and we currently have all enrolment documents for the 2021-2022 academic year that starts in September.

Poloko is interested in the relationship between design, history, and technology while Tiheli is a firm believer in architecture’s power to transform people’s lives, environments, and societies.

Our architectural journey began in 2012 at Lerotholi Polytechnic (Lesotho), where we later graduated top of our class winning best performing student awards in Architectural Technology.

In 2017, we were accepted at The University of Cape Town for a Bachelor of Architectural Studies. Here, we were exposed to exciting and innovative ideas from various architects and research. We graduated in 2020 winning the Reuben Stubbs awards for best projects in Structure and Design, and the Corobrick award for best use of clay brick respectively.

From one of our lecturers at The University of Cape Town; we brought openness and maturity to the school and fellow students. We also instilled in them, as more experienced students, a seriousness about their work.

Due to our financial situation and coming from one of the poor countries in Africa, we don’t have funds to support ourselves to study overseas but we believe that this is a good opportunity to show the world what we can do and how many lives we can inspire.

We are going to be the first people in Lesotho to have this qualification (Masters in Architectural Design & History). Also, we will be the first in our families to have had the opportunity to benefit from a tertiary education and obtain an international master’s degree.

We are determined to do our best to overcome any challenges which come our way.  We feel certain that our experience will inspire other young children who are currently in rural areas in underdeveloped countries to work hard and reach for their dreams to achieve better education and to help lift their communities in the process.

We look forward to returning to our home-land of Lesotho to use our experience and education to uplift the communities of our birth.

We kindly ask for funding or donations to be able to study and live in Italy. Our current target is R300 000 (R150 000 each).

The funding or donations will be highly appreciated and it will be a good investment for the future.

Kind Regards

Poloko Leteka & Tiheli Tiheli
