Hello, Everyone!

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn a bit about our story. We have been keeping this news close to the vest, and now we’re so happy & hopeful as we announce our plans to grow our family through adoption! The ‘Road to Baby Roman’ is a winding one, at every step a beautiful one, but not without its twists and turns. So here’s a bit about how we got here, and the steps ahead :)

September 2021 marked 7 years for us as husband and wife. On that perfect (I’m biased), just-before-Fall day, the one thing Manny & I were certain of was that we loved each other, and that we’d choose each other at every turn. Of course we couldn’t know what lay ahead, but we were sure we wanted to figure it out together. Life has given us a chance to prove that many times over. On the path to growing our family there have been losses and sorrows. Those seasons were really, really tough. Through them, we cried, laughed, prayed, and waited for the dust to settle so we could see the way forward. Yet, God’s presence was always felt in the midst, never rushing us out of our feelings, but grieving with us, while gently lighting the way to what’s next. Today, we’re grateful, humbled, and SO excited, because ‘what’s next’ has become clear: It’s time to start walking toward Baby Roman, and adoption is the way!

Now, this feels important to say: adoption has always been Plan A for Manny and me - since the early days of our relationship, we’ve known it was going to be part of how we grew our family. My mother was adopted, and since I was a little girl it was always clear to see what makes a family, a FAMILY, and that’s love. Nothing more. Nothing less. And that we’ve got a bunch of!

Many of you have been our witnesses, have shown up to sustain us (both emotionally and practically), and have asked how to help. Maybe some of you are new to our story and would like to join us on the journey. This support is one great way. Adoption can be expensive, in our case it is (stay tuned for a fee breakdown in an upcoming update), and there’s one big reason why: we’ve chosen to adopt via an agency, and our decision for our agency is based on our values, which are simple. In addition to the support we receive, it’s a priority for us that Baby Roman’s first mother has all of the support she needs in this process: counseling opportunities (before, during and after placement), higher education scholarships, access to medical care, and the list goes on. We believe love is a verb, it’s not just something you feel, it’s something you do. The only way we know how to love our little one is to love the person that is loving them first, not just “with words or speech, but with actions and in truth.” (1 John 3:18) This is a space to join us in that commitment.
