Homecare -- Not Nursing Home Care!!
I am an RN. I work full time, overnights. My husband and I have 2 adult disabled sons. One is 25, he is quadriplegic from cerebral palsy. The other is 27, he is blind and autistic. We have a mini-farm with goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and ducks. My husband and I have been working very hard to take care of our farm and our sons. We rarely ask for help from others. He normally cares for the home and our sons while I work. My husband has been in the hospital most days since January 3rd. He developed a rare autoimmune disease (Wegener's granulomatosis with polyangiitis). This destroyed his kidneys. He had to have dialysis 3 days each week. He caught a MRSA infection in his subclavian dialysis access. This infection spread to his heart and has destroyed one of his heart valves. He is currently in the hospital at UK in Lexington Kentucky for heart valve replacement and treatment of the infection and the Wegener's. He will be down for a long time.
In the meantime, I am having to hire help to care for our sons and our farm. I have found someone to help care for the boys while I work, but it costs $100/day. Between our regular bills and the costs of health needs, I am having trouble paying for a caretaker so I can keep working. I must keep working to maintain healt insurance on us all. I have someone else who can come help in 3 weeks, but I need to provide a small camper for her to stay in.
The $5000 is to pay for care for 3 weeks, and to buy a small camper off Craigslist.
