Hope For Jennifer

My grandma is 74 years old and has lived a positive, healthy life style up until a couple of months ago. Going into 2020 my grandma started feeling pain in her right leg/foot, she believed it was just normal pain, until the pain started to get worse. She continued to try and manage the pain on her own, until she had no choice but to go get it checked out by a doctor. Her first visit to our local family doctor determined she had Gout. Gout is a form of arthritis characterized by severe pain, redness and tenderness in joints. The healing process seemed easy enough, lots of rest, change in eating habits and all in all keeping up with that healthy life style. My grandma went home in hopes that in a few weeks the pain would subside. Weeks went on and still no change in the pain and gradually got worse. After now 4 visits to our local family doctor, "gout" was still her diagnoses. After a lot of personal research, gout did not seem at all right in her situation. About 6 weeks ago, she went to the hospital due to discoloration in her foot and excruciating pain. The hospital did not take the time to do any tests, but to simply tell her she has gout and these are the steps to healing. Two weeks later my grandma now has ZERO feeling in her right leg/foot, enabling her from walking at all. She is now being rushed to hospital for emergency surgery, or within the hour she could have died. She did NOT have gout, it was several blood clots in her leg, that was preventing the blood flow to her foot. After a long brutal surgery of trying to remove the blood clots, her foot was too far gone to save. The doctors determined that half of her leg and foot is now dead and no function to her foot will return, leading up to amputation. She is now living life with one leg due to multiple misdiagnoses.

Today, my family and I are asking for a simple donation towards my grandmas new adjustment in life. She will now have to make many changes in her day to day routine. She will need money for medical bills, a new way of getting around, aka a wheelchair, a prosthetic leg and just in general in home care. We are working together as a family to get through this but now more then ever she needs extra support. She will need to keep herself busy and one thing she loves to do, is sit back and play on her iPad that was STOLEN upon delivery during her stay, as we as a family could not enter the hospital due to COVID-19. Her gold earrings and phone charger was taken from her room while she was sleeping. We now, do not feel comfortable putting together any of her belongings and sending them to the hospital as multiple items of hers were stolen. We are asking for the money to help her transition through this new life and to help replace those items that were so important to my grandma.

I now want to take the time to thank those who took the time to read my story and a massive thank you to those who choose to donate. There is no specific goal, we set the goal at 3000, but there is no obligation to get to that number, anything from 1 dollar to 1000 will help us get through this together. My grandma deserves nothing but the best care and the best environment to live out the remainder of her life.
