Matthew Weaver

On August 10th, 2018, 21 year-old Matthew Weaver vanished without a trace in Malibu, CA.
This page was set up by his family members—his father, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and step-mother.
The funds we have raised from GoFundMe and other private donations has gone toward the hiring of a private investigator, search parties, and other social media promotion of Matthew’s story. We are still working with a private investigator to follow up on leads or people of interest. Our family will never give up on trying to locate the whereabouts of Matthew Weaver Jr.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers throughout it all.
Please keep sharing Matthew’s story.

One day, someone out there is going to come forward with new information.

Thank you
Weaver Family & Friends

Sadly it has almost been 2 years since Matthew Weaver Jr. went missing. We are still looking for Matthew. We continue looking into all the hundreds of drone photos that were taken of the last known area he was in. We are still, one by one looking into volunteers tips from the drone photos. We are still searching the Malibu Mountains, climbing down hillsides and trails to look into those tips. We are still hopeful that we will find Matthew Jr. Weaver one day. Thank you to all the family members, friends, volunteers, for all your help and giving us the extra support during these hard times.

If I could go back in time there is so many things I would have changed. If I would have known we weren’t going to get breakfast that Saturday, or the last time I would have seen you was in July for a short amount of time. I would have spent more time with you. I would have made more of an effort to hang out with you and do more things with the boys. I regret it now more than ever. Matthew I hope we can find you and put this all to rest. I will never give up searching for you. I love you dude.

6/13/19 - To Live & Die in LA  releases  - The Curious Case of Matthew Weaver.  Hosted by Neil Strauss. Neil reached out to the Weaver family in September and we are so thankful he did. He has been instrumental in getting the word out in ways we could have not. To listen to the podcast click on the link or copy and paste in your address bar.

3/31/19 The last official search by LAPD for Matthew Weaver was conducted on 3/31/19.
On behalf of the Weaver family, I would like to personally thank the volunteers and staff of the Lost Hills Police Department, and for helping us look for my nephew, Matt Weaver. These search parties could not have been completed without your hard work, organization, communication, energy, and the help of many others who volunteered their time.
Please pass on to the many other Lost Hills employees and volunteers our appreciation for their efforts toward our missing family member.

Since the last update we have had some challenges regarding the Angels hat and white T-shirt with LAPD.  With the help of ORIGIN investigation by Jaden Brandt and the help of Neil Strauss, in October of 2018 drone photographs were posted and a tip line was set up.  Because of the tip line and photographs the Angel’s hat, white T-shirt, and Matthew's BMW car key was found. The family members that recovered the Angel’s hat and T-shirt turned the items over to LAPD in good faith that it would be tested for DNA and then returned to the family. Neither has been done. To say we are frustrated would be an understatement.

If you have a tip or would like to view the 797 drone photographs go to,

Happy Birthday Matt
We miss you!

With the help of the tips submitted to our tip line we were able to find the key to his BMW car, an Angels baseball hat, and a ripped up t-shirt near the baseball hat. The key was found close to where Matthew’s car was found. We were able to match the key and it’s the key to his car. My family and I want to thank everyone that has submitted tips to the tip line. There is still a 50,000 reward for any information leading to the whereabouts of Matthew. All tips, big or small could help us locate him. Please submit tips at or if you want to do it anonymously you can call (800) 358-3830.32197040_1552622812627918_r.jpeg32197040_1552622837509425_r.jpeg32197040_1552622858527234_r.jpeg

We have had over 2000 people within the first few hours already looking through the drone aerial photos for any clues that could lead us to Matthew. We are hoping for some leads soon.

Thank You

On August 10th, 2018, 21 year-old Matthew Weaver vanished without a trace in Malibu, CA. This page has been set up by his family members—his father, siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and step-mother—in the hopes of finding him.

It is hard to explain the emotional pain and uncertainty that we have all felt since Matthew’s disappearance, and our resources have been stretched thin looking for him. We have just hired a private investigator, which is far out of our budget, and are asking for any donation you can make to help continue the search for Matthew. All funds go directly to the search, and if your donation enables just an hour more of work from the private investigator, that could mean the difference between finding Matthew or not.

At the time of his disappearance, Matthew had just moved from Simi Valley to Granada Hills, and was training to follow in his father’s footsteps as a lineman for an AT&T subcontractor. His other passions are rescuing dogs and racing cars, which is what brought him to the mountain roads of Malibu, where he likely disappeared from.

Due to phone pings, we’ve been able to determine that Matthew—or at least his car and his phone—entered the Santa Monica Mountains area from Calabasas at 5:30 a.m. on August 10. He spent several hours in the area around Rosa’s Lookout, at Saddle Peak and Stunt roads, before the car turned down a dirt road. He sent his last text that day at 11:56 a.m., and that was the last time anyone heard from him.

His car was found the following morning hanging off the edge of the road, abandoned. We have found no cell phone, no wallet, and no article of clothing. Matt was last seen with black dickie pants, a white or black plain shirt, an Angels baseball hat, & red sneakers. Matt is 21 years old, 5'10, 130 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair.

The police have not yet escalated Matthew to “critical missing” status, which means that very few resources are being devoted to searching for him. This is why we need your help

Thank you very much for all of your kind thoughts and prayers.
Please keep sharing Matthew’s story.

Thank you
