Team Jasmine
A team of teenage Syrian refugee teenagers has been formed in NE Calgary to enter the FIRST worldwide robotics competition. They must design, assemble, program and operate a 100-lb robot to meet the annual FIRST challenging task.
Registration fees, purchases of robot parts and control and promotional costs must be raised in order for them to complete their robot and compete in provincial tournaments with other Alberta teams.
I am a retired civil engineer serving as the team Administrator, one of 5 adults mentoring the team. An RBC bank account in their name has been established in tgheir name. GoFundMe automatically transfers donations to that account..
The funds are spent primarily on purchase of various parts to assemble, wire up and program the robot of the team's design so it can perform the tasks assigned by FIRST. Travel costs too for attendance at the provincial tournament in Edmonton must be covered. Neither the Mentors no Adsministrator are paid in any way.
