This is Brooklyn.

She's only a puppy in this picture, but has since grown into a gentle giant. We think she's a Great Dane mixed with a medium sized breed but aren't exactly sure. What we do know is that she was rescued from a shelter just over 4 years ago by her current owners. She lives a great life in a home with a huge yard and a lake in the suburbs just outside of Raleigh. She has a little human sister "Ellie" whom she watches over, snuggles up to and loves on whenever she gets the chance. Ellie loves her too. So much so, that even though Ellie just started to speak and doesn't know many words yet, she does know Brooklyn's name and she calls her and "woofs" at her if she's not close by. While they are a huge mismatch in terms of size, these two are one of the cutest pairs you could ever imagine and are inseparable. Ellie and Brooklyn have a special bond that just can't be put into words.

So we were heartbroken when we heard that sweet, loving Brooklyn woke up paralyzed from the waist down.

The Veterinarian says she has a slipped disc that is pinching her spine and causing the partial paralysis. Fixing this will require costly specialist visits and then surgery. Total cost for treatment will likely exceed $10,000. This is money that her owners just do not have. I must disclose that her owners did not wish to ask for this money, but I insisted on letting me do the asking for them.

If you can contribute any amount, share the post or offer support in any way then it would be hugely appreciated and will go a long way in helping Brooklyn get the care she needs to walk again.

All proceeds will go to her owners Phil and Gabby, to help offset the cost of treatment. I will update this page with any new information as I get it.
