Bookie and No Shame's AT thruhike

Donation protected
Hello! This spring I packed my bags, loaded up my dog and headed to GA to undertake hiking the Appalachian Trail (AT). The AT extends from Springer Mountain GA, to Katahdin Mountain ME, covering over 2,000 miles. We started our journey the beginning of April with hopes to be in Maine by mid September. I'm excited to say we will be in Maine on time BUT it is because we pulled what is known as a "leapfrog" and jumped over a section of trail to get reprieve from the extreme heat and humidity. My dog, No Shame, is handling the cooler weather much better and we're moving forward. After we summit Katahdin we will travel back to Boiling Springs PA and start hiking north to the summit of Mount Greylock in MA where we will complete our hike. I have learned the trail is a fluid place and you must move forward as it works for the moment.

We hit another obstacle
We have discovered that despite the planning and all our hard work the trail is costing us more than expected. Between dietary restrictions and No Shame I've reached the end of my funds.

How you can help
Basic costs and how you can help us.
A shower: $3
A town meal for No Shame: $5
A town meal for me: $10
A roof for a night: $20
A day on the trail: $30
A week on trail: $200

Any and all support are appreciated in helping us complete this journey of growth and experience. I am the happiest I've been as I push myself to new limits. I am learning to reach out to those around me and ask for what I need.  On the trail we consider unexpected support "trail magic" and those who provide it "trail angels".  Often times it is the smallest thing which makes the biggest difference.

With 1,282 miles completed and 907 miles left we hope to complete this journey by averging 15 miles a day over the next 60 days.

Why am I walking 2,189 miles?
I undertook this journey as a way to rediscover life and to apply my experiences from the trail to my work in youth programming. I spent the past two years regaining my feet, literally, as I recovered from an accident which required knee surgery to replace my ACL. This injury and the resulting recovery left me drained physically, emotionally, and mentally.
