Hi, I’m Dhammike Perera, born and raised in Sri Lanka and now living in England. Today, my heart is heavy as I reach out to you. Our beloved island has been struck by the fury of **Storm Ditwah**, leaving behind heartbreak and devastation.
What were once peaceful homes and vibrant communities are now covered in mud and ruin. Families are standing amidst the wreckage of their lives, trying to find a way forward. Some have lost everything — their homes, precious memories, and, heartbreakingly, loved ones.
Among those suffering most are the children. Their schools have been damaged, their books and uniforms washed away, and their smiles dimmed by fear and uncertainty. For these children, education is more than just learning — it is their light, their hope, their dream of a better tomorrow.
Together with the Maris Stella College Old Boys Alumni Association (UK branch), we are determined to help them find that light again. Our mission is simple: to restore hope. We aim to provide school uniforms, supplies, and essentials to affected children, while extending a helping hand to families who are trying to rebuild from nothing.
Every pound you give will go directly to those in need, distributed through trusted schools and local coordinators to ensure transparency and fairness.
Now is the moment for kindness to rise above tragedy. Your generosity can bring back a child’s smile, comfort a grieving family, and remind our people that they are not alone.
Please open your heart — even a small gift can rebuild dreams that the floods tried to wash away. Together, we can give Sri Lanka hope again.
