Reviving the Village: Diffused Hotel & Agro-Tourism with Garima Voyage (English at the bottom)

Siamo Federica e Rabindra, co-fondatori di Garima Voyage e Garima Voyage for Environment (GV4E), una no-profit che si occupa di progetti a protezione dell'ambiente ed educativi, puntando sulla rigenerazione dei territori nepalesi.

Ci siamo conosciuti nel 2014 e sposati nel 2016, ora abbiamo due bambini con i quali sogniamo un futuro dove anche loro possano godere appieno delle risorse meravigliose del territorio nepalese.

Abbiamo quindi deciso di intraprendere questo nuovo progetto insieme ad altri 4 amici che la pensano come noi. Siamo convinti che l'unione di diversi punti di vista faccia la forza!

Il villaggio di nascita di Rabindra, Musure- Melamchi, nel distretto di Sindhupalchok, si trova a circa 40 km da KTM, ma nonostante la vicinanza le strade non sono ancora molto veloci o praticabili, e quindi per vari motivi le persone se ne stanno andando. L'emigrazione verso l'estero o verso la capitale e' talmente forte che ha lasciato decine di case del villaggio di Rabindra completamente abbandonate.

Il progetto GV4E - Garima Voyage for Environment punta proprio a rigenerare il territorio e non abbandonare questi terreni estremamente belli e rurali. Partendo dalla nostra casa, dove e' nato Rabindra, BOSCO DI RAMCHE- RamcheWoods, abbiamo ricostruito la vecchia abitazione e i terreni circostanti ormai abbandonati piantando alberi da frutto e verdura, e cereali attraverso la guida esperta di Dipu, motivato e capace nell'agricoltura nepalese tradizionale.

Attraverso la rete creata con le case vicine, anche attraverso l'amicizia con famiglie che ormai hanno abbandonato il villaggio, cercheremo di accogliere i visitatori attraverso un'esperienza autentica di vita rurale e nepalese. I visitatori faranno un'esperienza immersiva nella vita locale e nelle tradizioni ancora fortemente sentite, inoltre potranno appoggiarsi a un esperto di Yoga, Ishowr Bogati, che fa parte di questa esperienza mettendo a disposizione la sua casa natale e la sua vasta esperienza come guida di trekking e guida di Yoga. L'ambiente sara' un'immersiva esperienza conoscitiva del Nepal e di se stessi.

Fanno parte di questa avventura Suman Pathak, guida escursionistica che ha accompagnato vari trekking in tutte le zone del Nepal dal lontano Kanchenjunga alla valle del Khumbu fino all'Island Peak a oltre 6000 mt.

La sua visione del turismo sviluppata insieme a Garima Voyage si preoccupa di un approccio rigenerativo e sostenibile fondamentale per preservare il territorio.

Infine siccome il concetto sviluppato gira attorno al principio di Educazione Umana, come visione da costruire per un futuro dove una migliore gestione delle risorse permette la fruizione del territorio da parte di tutti anche delle future generazioni, anche l'esperienza in ambito educativo di Ram Sir aiutera' il progetto a prestare attenzione al ruolo ed esempio che questo progetto puo' dare alla comunita'.

Nel cuore del Nepal, un villaggio un tempo vibrante rischia di scomparire, abbandonato a causa di migrazioni e mancanza di opportunità. Con Garima Voyage, vogliamo riportare la vita in queste case vuote, trasformandole in un albergo diffuso: un modello di ospitalità che valorizza l’identità locale, coinvolge la comunità e promuove un turismo sostenibile.

Cosa vogliamo realizzare

- Ristrutturare abitazioni tradizionali per accogliere viaggiatori in cerca di esperienze autentiche.

- Creare agrofarm comunitarie dove gli ospiti possano partecipare a coltivazioni biologiche, raccolta di erbe medicinali e preparazione di piatti tipici.

- Formare gli abitanti locali per gestire homestay e attività turistiche, generando reddito e prevenendo l’abbandono del territorio.

We are Federica and Rabindra, co-founders of Garima Voyage and Garima Voyage for Environment (GV4E), a non-profit organization that deals with environmental protection and educational projects, focusing on the regeneration of Nepalese territories.

We met in 2014 and got married in 2016, now we have two children with whom we dream of a future where they too can fully enjoy the wonderful resources of the Nepalese territory.

We have therefore decided to undertake this new project together with 4 other friends who think like us. We are convinced that the union of different points of view makes strength!

Rabindra's birth village, Musure- Melamchi, in the Sindhupalchok district, is located about 40 km from KTM, but despite the proximity the roads are still not very fast or passable, and therefore for various reasons people are leaving. Emigration abroad or to the capital is so strong that it has left dozens of houses in the village of Rabindra completely abandoned.

The GV4E - Garima Voyage for Environment project aims to regenerate the territory and not abandon these extremely beautiful and rural lands. Starting from our house, where Rabindra was born, BOSCO DI RAMCHE- RamcheWoods, we have rebuilt the old house and the surrounding lands now abandoned by planting fruit trees and vegetables, and cereals through the expert guidance of Dipu, motivated and capable in traditional Nepalese agriculture.

Through the network created with the neighboring houses, also through the friendship with families who have now abandoned the village, we will try to welcome visitors through an authentic experience of rural and Nepalese life. Visitors will have an immersive experience in local life and traditions that are still strongly felt, and they will also be able to rely on a Yoga expert, Ishowr Bogati, who is part of this experience by making his birthplace available and his vast experience as a trekking guide and Yoga guide. The environment will be an immersive cognitive experience of Nepal and of themselves.

Part of this adventure is Suman Pathak, a hiking guide who has accompanied various treks in all areas of Nepal from the distant Kanchenjunga to the Khumbu valley up to the Island Peak at over 6000 meters.

His vision of tourism developed together with Garima Voyage is concerned with a regenerative and sustainable approach that is fundamental to preserving the territory.

Finally, since the concept developed revolves around the principle of Human Education, as a vision to be built for a future where better management of resources allows the use of the territory by everyone, including future generations, Ram Sir's experience in the educational field will also help the project to pay attention to the role and example that this project can give to the community.

In the heart of Nepal, a once vibrant village risks disappearing, abandoned due to migration and lack of opportunities. With Garima Voyage, we want to bring life back to these empty houses, transforming them into a widespread hotel: a model of hospitality that enhances local identity, involves the community and promotes sustainable tourism.

What we want to achieve

- Renovate traditional homes to welcome travelers looking for authentic experiences.

- Create community agrofarms where guests can participate in organic farming, harvesting medicinal herbs and preparing typical dishes.

- Train locals to manage homestays and tourism activities, generating income and preventing abandonment of the territory.
