Rita is een 34-jarige vrouw, partner en moeder die graag lacht en altijd voor iedereen klaar staat. Sinds 2003 heeft ze Lupus, een veralgemeende auto-immuunziekte. Dat wil zeggen dat haar afweersysteem zich op overdreven wijze tegen zichzelf richt, o.a. door antistoffen te vormen die ontstekingsziekten veroorzaken. Lupus kan zowel de huid, gewrichten als diverse organen aantasten. Sindsdien werd zij regelmatig opgenomen in het ziekenhuis, maar de dokters hadden het toen nog steeds onder controle.
Op 30 december 2014 werd ze opgenomen voor een longontsteking, maar daar bleef het niet bij. Ze liep meerdere pijnlijke aandoeningen op zoals gebroken ribben door haar cortisone-kuur, een klaplong en een darmobstructie, met een dringende operatie tot gevolg. Toen ze daarbovenop de MAC bacterie opliep, kreeg zij van het UZA te horen dat zij haar niet meer verder konden helpen. Op initiatief van haar familie werd ze overgeplaatst naar UZ Leuven. De MAC bacterie is een zeer ernstige bacterie die door haar verzwakt immuunsysteem de overhand heeft kunnen nemen. Ze heeft momenteel reeds diverse behandelingen uitgeprobeerd, dit zonder succes. Tot nu toe kwam het ziekenfonds tussen in de kosten. Nu heeft UZ Leuven in samenwerking met Engeland en Duitsland een behandeling opgestart die in België niet wordt terugbetaald. Deze is m.a.w. volledig voor eigen rekening. De behandeling zal 18 maanden in beslag nemen, de kostprijs hiervan ligt tussen 6000 en 8000 euro per 6 maanden. We kunnen uw hulp daarom zeer goed gebruiken! Alle beetjes helpen!

Rita is a 34-year old woman, amazing wife and cheerful mother who is always there for others.
In 2003, she was diagnosed with Lupus, a generalized auto-immune disease in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks its own healthy tissue. The skin, the joints, the kidneys, the brain and all other organs can be affected.
Since the diagnosis she has been frequently hospitalized. Fortunately, the doctors were always able to control this awful disease.
On December 30, 2014 she was hospitalized for pneumonia.
Shortly after the pneumonia diagnosis, she was affected with multiple painful conditions such as broken ribs, a collapsed lung and an intestinal obstruction. These were caused by the cortisone treatment, with an urgent surgery as a result.
Few weeks later Rita and her family received even worse news: an aggressive MAC bacteria had attacked her already weak immune system and body, and so the hospital was no longer able to help her.
Her family could not accept the verdict and decided to transfer Rita to UZ Leuven.
Being in this hospital, Rita has tried several treatments. Unfortunately, without success.
Today there is a final alternative: a highly expensive international treatment that will be her last hope. The downside of this one, is that the Belgian health insurance will not cover any of the financial costs. The treatment will take 18 months, at the high cost of 6,000 to 8,000 euros, every 6 months
Therefore, she could definitely use your support. Even the smallest effort, can make a huge difference.

我們認識的Rita是一個好開朗、活潑、及凡事都很熱心助人的媽媽及太太。
從2003年開始她不幸地患有狼瘡這疾病。患有狼瘡時,免疫系統出現紊亂,轉而攻擊健康細 胞和組織。這會損傷體內的許多部位,例如：
- 關節
- 皮膚
- 腎臟
- 心臟
- 肺
- 血管
- 大腦
怎麼多年來, Rita 受盡病魔的折磨, 經常出入醫院。
由 30/12/2014 開始Rita 亦未離開過醫院的病床,因為肺炎及類固醇的副作而引致其他的疾病: 肋骨脆裂、氣胸、肺結核、腸梗阻。Rita 病情一直未有好轉,而且愈來愈嚴重,後來也感染了鳥分枝杆菌（Mycobacterium avium complex, MAC)。MAC感染后可侵害多种组织器官包括肺、骨髓和淋巴结等。
Rita一直都很堅強及努力地與病魔搏鬥,面對重重的難關。
但很不幸地,由於病情極嚴重,所以連安特衛普大學醫院 (UZ Antwerpen)都不能再幫Rita了。在沒有選擇情況之下,她唯有到魯文大學醫院 (UZ Leuven)求醫。現在Rita在魯文大學醫院(UZ Leuven) 需接受一個長達一年多的抗生素療程對抗鳥分枝杆菌。
總是一波未停一波又起, 當Rita以為她的病情得到幫助的時候,她收到保險公司的通知, 它們不再接納Rita的新療程。 所有醫療費用每六個月高達 8000 EURO, 且需自付。Rita的打擊一浪又接一浪。
我們很希望大家可以分擔Rita醫療的費用, 為Rita伸出援手。
