I am currently in a very abusive relationship that has drained me mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, one that I am desperately trying to leave.

<div>In addition to the emotional toll, my husband not only abandoned me through divorce but is now threatening my immigration status, further compounding the physical and psychological strain. This means I will need to hire a lawyer to fight my case, protect myself in the divorce, and secure my immigration status, as immigration has already warned us that they are monitoring our situation.

<div>The stress of abuse, homelessness, and fear has taken a devastating toll on my health. I live with<strong> severe hypertension, chronic kidney disease and lupus</strong>, and I recently underwent a kidney biopsy. I collapsed and was hospitalized with<strong> dangerously high blood pressure</strong>, and doctors have now confirmed <strong>heart failure with swelling around my heart.</strong> I have also been battling severe depression brought on by prolonged trauma and instability. I am in active medical care and fighting every day just to stay alive.

<div>Despite my condition, my husband has now served me with eviction court papers, adding even more instability during a medical crisis. He has also made terrifying threats, including threatening to call ICE on me and my daughter, using fear and intimidation to keep us vulnerable and silent. These threats have caused tremendous emotional and mental distress and have put both my child and me in a constant state of fear for our safety and our future.
