My name is Jennifer. I am here asking---begging---for aid for my parents who were the victims of a devastating house fire on the block of Lynette Drive in Kingman, Arizona. The fire occurred around 9:30am on Wednesday, November 25th, the day before Thanksgiving.
I would like to extend the deepest gratitude to the entire community for all the help they've already given. So many neighbors stepped in and risked themselves in the effort to rescue my parents. Thank you so, so much.
It is currently unspecified what the cause of the fire was, but to suffice to say, they both have lost their life's possessions. Now, we have to rebuild from those very ashes to begin anew.
As a general health update, both are doing okay, given the circumstances and severity of some of the injuries sustained. When the explosion happened, it knocked my father to the floor and the ceiling came down on him immediately. He was significantly burned on his hands and face, and has received skin grafting to help repair and heal the damage. He'll be receiving some more patchwork grafting sometime soon.
Mother is pretty banged up on the entirety of her left side. Some form of impact happened with her head, caused a nasty gash on the right side above her temple, and she has swelling/contusions on the left. She developed a minor brain bleed that, at this time, does not appear to require surgery. She will be needing rehabilitation and physical therapy to walk properly again, and hopefully she won't require mobility aids and can again be independent and unassisted.
There were three pets in the home. We have reports that one was seen under the arm of a firefighter, and then later seen fleeing from the area. I also beg of you, if you're in the area, to please be on the look out. They were my mother's beloved companions and she's worried sick.
Charlie - fully brown short-haired deer head Chihuahua with a longer, Dachshund-like (weiner dog) body, and he's quite overweight.
Chloe - a white and brown deer head Chihuahua.
(She was younger here, image from 2017.)
(Photo from earlier this year, 2024. She's gotten some white around her eyes with age.)
Cocoa - A siamese/diluted calico cat. She has blue eyes and an ivory colored strip on her nose.
I know times are incredibly difficult for everyone, and I'm not an individual that often asks for help. I get that stubbornness from both of my strong-willed parents, who desperately need the kind of help we'd never ask for normally. If you can help in any capacity, please... Please, please, please, even just spread the word. Send prayers, send healing thoughts, energy, vibes, juju, and help keep some hope kindled for them.
