Rise Up School of Dance

Rise Up School of Dance is a nonprofit ballet school dedicated to offering quality classical ballet training to families with children ages 7 and up from all levels of income. To do this, we offer sliding-scale tuition with the hope that every interested child has the opportunity to pursue ballet.

Our heart is that each child would feel seen, known, and loved. We long to see our surrounding neighborhoods united in community, regardless of background. Our hope is to use the medium of dance to encourage children through mental, physical, and artistic skill and healthy, meaningful relationships.

Our mission is to cultivate joyful, compassionate, and physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy dancers. We wish to raise up students from all socioeconomic statuses who will be catalysts of hope for one another and their communities.

Our aim is that Rise Up students will come away not only trained in classical ballet technique—which instills discipline, work ethic, athleticism, and artistry—but also having formed healthy relationships with caring adult mentors and classmates from many different backgrounds. We believe ballet can be used as a powerful tool to spur healthy development, build relationships, and unite communities.

Two years ago we began teaching free ballet lessons in a church building. Now we have more than 40 students training with us weekly! We set up and tear down ballet flooring and metal ballet barres every Saturday and are running out of space for new students. We are ready to take the next step forward in opening Rise Up School of Dance.

OUR GOAL: $16,000
This will allow us to:
- Rent a permanent space for our studio
- Build a sprung marley dance floor
- Subsidize tuition for students in need
- Cover legal fees and other nonprofit start-up costs
- Invest in additional children more than once a week
- Expand our free outreach classes
- Provide lessons where no other ballet schools exist

100% of funds raised go directly to the school. All instructors and staff are volunteers.
