Today, you can make a difference. By donating to Balance 180 Gymnastics and Sports Academy you have the opportunity to help create leaders, innovators, role models, adventurers, superheroes, and a community through the sport of gymnastics. We are a nonprofit organization in Gainesville, Florida that is currently serving 400 children with varying abilities and needs in our community. We have felt compelled to #RiseUp strong out of COVID-19 by offering high-quality classes and programs that meet some of the unique needs that have emerged out of the pandemic. We are working hard to bring all of our athletes with and without special needs back safely, but we need your help to keep moving forward. So, we ask you…will you #RiseUp with us?
WHAT WE HAVE BEEN UP TO...
True to our mission, we are continuing to do what we set out to do which is to create a fun and positive place for children of all abilities to build confidence and learn physical and social skills through the sport of gymnastics. Check out some of the photos below for what we have been up to.
Gymnastics Classes: Our coaches implemented many safety precautions (sanitizing hands, disinfecting equipment, socially distancing) and have also updated our curriculum to incorporate educational components and fun so that the classes are especially enriching and engaging during this time when children do not have as much social interaction with their peers.
Summer Camp: Our seventh annual summer camp looked different this year, but we were able to have just as much fun! Summer Camp was filled with gymnastics, games, crafts, outdoor activities, dancing and so much more.
E-Learning Pod: We are proud that we were able to provide a free e-learning pod as an option for parents who opted to continue with online school in the fall, but did not have anyone available at home to supervise their child’s schooling. We committed to running the pod for the first nine weeks of school to aid in the transition back to school.
Fitnastics: We implemented a fitness program called Fitnastics as a way for kids to get moving after school. Fitnastics classes have featured gymnastics, stretching, and movement activities including games, dancing and fitness challenges.
Zoom, Zoom, Zoom: During the time we were closed, we offered online curriculum and live Zoom gymnastics classes for the kids to do from home. Some of our student volunteers went above and beyond to develop a program called Movement4ALL which allowed our athletes with special needs to participate as well with tailored videos and curriculum to meet their unique needs.
Flip-or-Treat: On October 24th, 2020, we opened our parking lot for socially distant trunk-or-treating as well as the gym itself for games, fall activities, and gymnastics for our first ever Flip-or-Treat event.
