RISD Rover goes to NASA 2018

Donation protected
We are RISD Rover, a group of passionate students from the Rhode Island School of Design. Together, we design, fabricate, and race our very own human-powered vehicle to compete in the annual NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge.
The RISD Rover Club is a diverse team of students ranging from freshman to senior who come from many majors and backgrounds. Each team member contributes their design knowledge, interest, and fabrication skills to make a human powered vehicle that can effectively traverse a simulated Martian environment.
The Human Exploration Rover Challenge poses students with the design and engineering challenges that the members of the Apollo missions faced while exploring the lunar surface. Functionality, ergonomics, cost, and organization are just a few of the many ideas teams have to consider in order to take part in the race.
Last year, our team placed second in the University Division and won the Featherweight Award for the lightest rover, as well as the Technology Challenge Award for Wheel Design and Fabrication, and the Best Report Award.
This year, we're looking to build on our past successes when we return to the Marshall Space and Rocket Center. Our team is enthusiastic, hard-working, and eager to make our rover even lighter, stronger, and more beautiful than before.
From September to April, we spend countless hours designing and constructing this wonderfully complex vehicle for the competition in Huntsville, Alabama. The race is the culmination of 8 months of incredibly hard work, and every team member deserves to go. Our goal is to be able to send every single hard-working team mate down to the the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, and with your help, we can make that happen.  By donating to our campaign, you help us afford resources, plane tickets, and shipping fees that make this endeavor possible.
This experience affords us an opportunity of a lifetime. We are gaining invaluable knowledge that will help us to become professional designers, leaders, and innovators, and when you donate to our cause, you're casting a vote of confidence in what we do.

Thank you so much for visiting our page, and keep up with us as we envision, ideate, and create.

Sincerely,
The RISD Rover team
