Hi, I’ve never done this before but sometimes feeling helpless isn’t an option and I can’t just do nothing, without trying to help.
My daughter had a riding lesson on Tuesday, on the gorgeous pony in this picture - Maisie. On Wednesday, we had a huge storm in Lincolnshire and Maisie was struck by lightning. Maisie passed away. Lots of other horses and foals were terrified. Fencing was destroyed and lots of the animals ran out and had to be recovered and brought back to safety (a huge task).
It’s not only absolutely heartbreaking to lose this beautiful, gentle baby, who was only 8 years old, but the team are now having to care for other injured horses, make repairs to infrastructure and make sure enclosures are safe again.
if you can donate, please consider giving - honestly even a few pounds will help. The children and adults who knew Maisie and who get so much enjoyment from the horses are all devastated. Life goes on for them and it would be so amazing if they don’t have to have the financial worry on top of the heartbreak.
I don’t even know how much they need - it’s probably way more than I put here - but I wanted to just start something. To make a difference. To say thank you to them for all they do to help my daughter’s anxiety, through her love of their animals. I know they would never ask for help themselves and they’ll try to get through and will absolutely do everything they can for their horses, who they love so much.
Thank you so much if you can donate - and even if you can’t, please could you share this, as someone else may see it. Every pound will help.
Thank you!
