5K everyday for OGC SPLASH - CANCER SUPPORT

Rather than the usual resolution for the following year, which is often soon forgotten by the end of January, I have decided to pick a different resolution (or challenge) for each month of the year. January’s challenge is to run 5K everyday for 31 days straight, all in aid of The OGC Splash, Cancer Support Group who operate in Hampshire.




The OGC Cancer Support Group began in 2013 and has been assisting and supporting previous and current cancer patients in day to day life. This could be anything from the fantastic support groups they hold each month, which allow often over 100 patients to gather together as a community group and support network, to the dedicated phone line which any patient with concerns or difficulties can call for help, to the home visits and home care provided by their trained VOLUNTEERS. This is both medical professionals who volunteer as well as current and previous cancer sufferers who give up their time both week and weekends to assist those in need. 




I am not the biggest fan of running, especially road running in a cold and wet month, however we have all known someone who has gone through the cancer battle. For my family, it was losing my older brother at just 17 years old, as well as my Aunty, grandfather and other relatives. All of us would wish people to gain not only the best hospital care, but the best aftercare aswell, which is exactly what OGC Splash Cancer Support have provided free of charge since its conception in 2013.
