Raising Riley (Battling Leukemia)

“It takes a village”. A phrase that has always rang true to my heart. Now, more fitting than ever, I call on the many villages of friends and family to help with Raising Riley. At 10 years old, Riley has begun a journey that no child should ever have to take. She has boldly started down her path to battle T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Riley will receive weekly chemotherapy treatments in her new hometown of Kansas City, at Children’s Mercy Hospital. Riley has access to the uppermost quality of care and her team of doctors have the highest hopes that she WILL go in to remission. In order to maintain this quality of care, the Delles family will take on expenses from treatment, travel, unpaid time off of work and various unexpected expenditures. It is my hope that we can lighten that burden for them.  

Riley is an inspiration to us all. She faces cancer with an intelligent mind, extreme vigor, and natural wit. Anyone who knows Riley knows of her kind soul and her ability to laugh in most uncomfortable situations. She can outthink you before you ever saw it coming. She asks questions that only a PHD student  would think of. I joke that next book in her extensive list should be the Illiad and the Odyssey, but its not really all that far fetched. To hear Riley laugh is to know hapiness, and to see her smile is to know the stuff that only fairytales are made of.
