Riley Darlyn Dixon and her Mom, Dad, & 4 siblings
Donation protected
Riley Darlyn was born on August 9th and sent home the next day, we thought healthy. A phone call the next day would tell Mom and Dad otherwise. Riley was jaundice and stomach was not doing so well as she was not keeping down what she ate. Mom was concerned, but the phone call told her what was going on and she jumped to work. She rushed Riley to the hospital and has been there since. Riley has galactosemia. If left untreated, this is fatal. This literally means sugar in the blood. Riley is unable to digest the sugars from milk and other foods that end up turning into toxins in her blood. This condition will be a lifetime treatment and will take many specialists and care for Riley. She has already had to endure many tests, eye exams to rule out cataracts, heparin infusions, plasma infusions, she is only getting intravenous feeding right now, and is under light therapy, among other treatments to keep her stable. She is in NICU and Mommy and Daddy are tired. Mommy is stuck at the hospital with Riley and Daddy is at home with the boys. Their income is at a standstill and they have bills coming up quickly. Riley will be placed on expensive medical formulas that insurance will only help with. Any help from anyone will be greatly appreciated.
