At the beginning of September 2021, Sarah and I will attempt to cycle over 2,000 miles on a gruelling loop from our front door to all 15 national parks in the UK.

To put it into a little more perspective, here are some stats:

- We'll need to cycle up to 70 miles a day
- That will take 9+ hours of riding each day. 270 hours in one month.
- We'll burn at least 120,000 calories
- On average, we'll almost climb the height of Scafell Pike - the tallest peak in England - every day
- Our tent will be pitched and unpitched at least 60 times
- Our pedals will have to rotate more than 468,000 times
- We will be on the move for 12+ hours every day, come rain or shine
- And will eat DOZENS of tubs of peanut butter...

All of this will take us to every national park in the UK.

It'll be 100% emission-free, plant-powered and the first time someone has attempted it. Our challenge is to complete this epic route in 30 days!

We’ll be doing it all unsupported, meaning our lives get strapped to the bikes and our tent becomes home. Taking into consideration diversions, wrong turns, food/water pick-ups and the search to find camping spots, it will mean cycling up to 70 miles a day - every day - for 30 days. We’re by no means pro cyclists so the physical and mental challenge is mighty intimidating.

This is all being done to raise as much money as possible for Trees for Life: a brilliant environmental charity in the Scottish Highlands. They focus on rewilding projects, restoring Scotland's Caledonian Forest and strengthening biodiversity - it's one of our greatest tools to fight climate change. They deserve all the help we can give them, and it's something that impacts us all.

Besides just being beautiful and enabling adventures, a healthy environment keeps us alive. Looking after it creates a better world for us all. Whether you're an outdoor lover, a city slicker, a farmer, business person, teacher, parent, grandchild... it's your fight too.

We've set the target of raising £2,000 for Trees for Life and their nature-saving projects. That's £1 a mile. But the more we can raise the better.

Every £6 will mean Trees for Life can plant a new tree to stand for generations, purifying and strengthening our environments, sheltering and inspiring our communities.

WHY WE DECIDED TO RIDE FOR THE WILD

The UK is in a seriously critical state
- nearly 50% of wildlife species are declining, our natural spaces are shrinking by the day and our wilderness has virtually disappeared. There has never been a more important time to protect our natural areas

A fight worth fighting - a healthy environment keeps air breathable, water drinkable and puts tasty grub on our plates. More than that, it’s the great outdoors which ignites the imagination of adventure lovers, captivates future generations, calms the mind, lifts the soul and has soothed nations through a dark pandemic.

Coming to the green near you - we'll be cycling through your counties, parks and very possibly your back gardens. The national parks and wild places we’ll encounter are literally on your doorstep and deserve your attention.

It’s all just a cycle away - our journey will be plotted for people to follow and hopefully replicate parts on their own two-wheeled adventures. The potential of cycling really has no boundaries.

The power of adventure - embracing the outdoors has a massive impact - it's absolutely key for a sustainable future. The more people we can help get outside the better.

And very importantly - as vulnerable as they are, we really are blessed to have such easily accessible and absolutely mindblowing natural surroundings here in the UK. This epic bike ride seemed like the perfect way to explore them!
