Ride for the River School

On May 11th, we are attempting to complete the Santa Rosa Ironman.
We are raising donations for The River School, an early-childhood program focused on educating young, deaf, children with cochlear implants alongside hearing peers. Historically, children with hearing loss were isolated in classrooms with other deaf children - this model failed them.
Without exposure to peers with good language and social models, children with hearing loss do not typically develop age appropriate communication and social skills. The River School has recast how teachers, administrators, school systems, and communities think about educating children with hearing loss.
We are raising donations for The River School in honor of Dr. John Niparko, who was a founding board member of The River School. He believed in the school when it was just the seed of an idea. He believed children with cochlear implants needed support, not just surgery. He believed all children could benefit from the nurturing and care that a tight-knit, mission-focused community offers.
