On the morning of September 2nd, I’ll be setting sail on a solo, self-supported 400+ mile bikepacking ride across Pennsylvania on Route 6 over five days while raising money for For Pete's Sake. For Pete's Sake Cancer Respite Foundation enables cancer patients and their loved ones to strengthen, deepen and unify their relationship by creating unforgettable and lasting respite experiences. So many families are effected by some form of cancer, and I’m sure someone in yours has fought it or is currently fighting. My grandfather, one of the most important people in my life, passed away in 2008 from his own battle. I’m doing this ride in memory of him while trying to support another family that is going through the same thing currently. I’ve had my own health issues this summer and I am not 100% prepared for this trip physically, but I will push myself and suffer through it for a handful of days to benefit someone suffering through way worse. I’m decently nervous to start Thursday, but I’ll feel better once I’m out on the road!
