Ride For Hope 2020

In 2017, My daughter and I went on a mission trip to South Africa and Mozambique; this was my third trip to Africa and Morgan’s first.  At the conclusion of our mission work we wanted to visit some sights in South Africa; however, a friend of mine here in Traverse asked me to stop at a CarePoint (an orphan care center) in Johannesburg, South Africa, operated by Christ’s Hope International (CHI).  I reluctantly agreed, but I’m glad I did!  I was blown away with the quality of care and impact Christ’s Hope was able to give to the children in their CarePoint.

I was so impressed by the ministry of CHI that when I retired from the pastorate in 2018, I decided to partner with CHI in my business endeavors.  Our family sponsors a child in a CarePoint and a percentage of every dollar I make in my coaching business goes to Christ Hope to help support orphan care.  Here’s what James, the half-brother of Jesus Christ, says about the importance of orphan care:

James 1:27 (NLT) - Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

The brother of Jesus says that pure and genuine religion (in God’s sight) is to care for orphans!  To me, that’s very compiling.

I need your help!  In 2020, I will be partnering with Christ’s Hope in a different way – leading a team of cyclist in South Africa.  We will visit two CarePoints and ride across South Africa to Eswatini.

WHY?  The purpose of this ride is to attract people to come and see the ministry firsthand who may not without the cycling challenge, raise funds, bless the children in the ministry, and incorporate a spiritual growth opportunity.

How Can You Help?  I am looking for riders who can put up big miles over the course of several days (approximately 90 miles a day for 5 days).  If you know any cyclist that would be interested in a trip like this, please share this story with them – I’d love to have them on the team and introduce them to Christ’s Hope.  I also need financial support of $5000.  Would you consider supporting the ministry of Christ’s Hope International and the work they do with orphan care?  Every donation goes directly to Christ’s Hope and you will receive a receipt for tax purposes.  Please consider donating today, every $60 donation provides the basic needs for one child for one month.   Click the link to donate today.

Please share this with your friends.  Christ’s Hope is doing tremendous work in the lives of children in Africa.  Thank you for your help.
