Ride For Bob Coz Bob's Me Mate!

Donation protected
Hi All,

As many of you are already aware our mate Bob Arnold has recently been diagnosed with Dementia and Early Onset Alzheimer's. As a result he has been forced to give up his employment. On Saturday 27th October there is a fundraiser for Bob and his family at the Burleigh Bears R.L.F.C where Bob captained/coached in the late 80's. To coincide with that I am going to do a ride for Bob and am setting up this Go Fund Me page.

Bob and I go back to the school oval at Cannon Hill primary in Brisbane in the late 60's (yes where getting old). We played at East's and Valley's in the late 70's early 80's. We are members of Tugun S.L.S.C and previous to that in the 80's (when not banished, LOL) members of Kirra S.L.S.C. Bob and I shared a house at Carina in Brisbane with Trevor Klinger of Kirra S.L.S.C Fame. I can see some of you grinning remembering Zaheel Street! In 1984 thanks to our coach at Valley's Ross Strudwick and David Brook from Halifax we made our first overseas trip together to play for the famous blue and white hoops in the North of England. On my recent trips back to the UK it was obvious that the great fans that are Halifax hadn't forgotten Bob Arnold as they were all asking after him. Not like 'Arno' to leave his mark!

Bob has been a constant in my life from those early days. He is one of the toughest rugby league players I have played with or against. So to do a ride for him and in his honour I cant take to easy an option - I've decided to do a 200 km loop around the city we live in starting and finishing at Burleigh Bears R.L.F.C. Taking in Mt Tamborine, Canungra, Beechmont, Numinbah and into cockroach country Murwillumbah then back up over Tomewin to finish at the Bears...Simples!!

When times are tough is when you need your mates and that is one of Bob's positive he has plenty of mates. Both in the rugby league and S.L.S.C communities, and anywhere else he has touched. Arno always makes friends - you know when he's around and he always stays in touch!

I'm asking you, his mates, to help him and his family. If you can spare a couple or 'Bob' for Bob it will be greatly appreciated. I'll get the ball rolling by tossing in a dollar for each kilometre I ride so there is $200.

Thanks in advance for your generosity.

I'm not big on Facebook if you could share this with as many of our friends as possible that would be amazing.

Cheers,

The Cow
