Rick has developed a panniculus, which is similar to a fatty tumor, growing from his abdomen. The growth has progressed to the point where he has been unable to function normally. He is confined to his home and is barely able to walk. He has difficulty with all of his daily routine and is unable to sleep for more than an hour at a time. He is suffering from the pain of bearing the burden of this growth , and if he doesn't have surgery, will most likely require additional supportive care.
The surgery, called a Panniculectomy, will be performed at the University Hospital in Madison, WI. The primary risk is bleeding, due to the highly vascularized nature of these tissues.
Rick will be unable to work during recovery, and his wife Sherry will need to take some time off from work to assist in his recovery, which leaves them at a significant financial disadvantage.
I am asking for contributions to assist them in meeting their deductible for their medical insurance. The cost of not working, added expense of visits to/from Madison and any additional care he may need have been overwhelming.
He really has no option but surgery, as this growth continues to get bigger, limiting more and more of his ability to function. Your prayers would also be greatly appreciated!
