Help Rick Fight Burkitt Lymphoma

Donation protected
On Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 3:48am, Rick was admitted to the ER at Zuckerburg San Francisco General due to shortness of breath and tightness in the chest.  Rick's heart rate was 143bpm and his blood pressure was 119/100. Since this was abnormal, they ran several tests to figure out the cause.

After fourteen hours of copious test (CT scans, blood tests, ultrasounds, biopsy, etc.) with no food or water, Rick received devastating news from the medical doctor. In the CT scan, they found two masses inside the right atrium and another mass on top of the adrenal gland. The doctors also discovered fluid accumulating around his heart while doing an ultrasound, and proceeded with a pericardial drainage. This helped lower his HR and relieved some of the pressure in his chest.

November 10th – Rick remained in the ICU, and received preliminary results that indicated he had B-Cell Lymphoma.

November 14th – A second biopsy was conducted on the lymph nodes and masses from Rick’s neck. Results confirmed he had a very aggressive B-Cell Lymphoma. He also started having issues with vision and speech, and found it very difficult to breath and communicate with friends and family. A new lump was also discovered on his right side.

November 17th - Doctors noticed a significant decrease in his weight, and his right eye was also swollen shut due to inflammation.

November 24th - Rick received his final diagnosis – Burkitt Lymphoma.

November 28th - During a routine X-Ray doctors found excessive air in Rick’s stomach. Doctors suspected it could be due to perforated intestines. However, due to the severity of the surgery needed and possible complications, doctors are concerned about Rick’s overall health. Rick is staying strong and positive while discussing his next steps with his doctors. We will update as soon as we receive more information.

At this time, our family is grateful for all of the help received during this difficult time, whether it be kind words, prayers, or donations of any amount. All monetary donations will go directly towards helping Rick fight this battle with Burkitt Lymphoma. We truly appreciate all of the thoughts and well wishes.

Love,

Rick’s Family
