This fundraiser has been started for Rick and his wife Sandy Keen. Rick went into the hospital with a spontaneous pneumothorax (a collapsed right lung). The lung collapsed due to "blebs" (weak thin spots on the lung). The blebs burst and allowed air into his chest cavity which collapsed his lung.

The Drs. attempted to repair those spots but were unable to repair them and reinflate the lung. The Drs. then forced to open his chest cavity and they found his shrivaled up lung attached to top of the chest cavity wall. The lung was carefully removed from the chest wall and the blebs (holes) were repaired. Rick spent 5 hours in surgery and was put into a medically induced coma and hooked up to a ventilator to breathe for him. He is still in Glenwood Hospital intensive care, his condition is critical, but we are hopeful.

He's currently fighting secondary pneumonia, however the Dr's have him on a variety of different anti-biotics to fight this additional complication. To date his particular strain of pneumonia is resistant to every anti-biotic they've tried however we are still hoping for the best.

We have started this account to defray his many current medical costs and lessen the ever growing and large financial and medical burden him and his family are faced with.

We have started a Facebook page for Rickey, so that his friends, family and anyone can leave prayers, words of encouragement and messages for Rick, Sandy and their family.
