Hope For Rick

WHO IS RICK HEIL:
You may know him as the lead singer of the legendary band SONICFLOOD.com, but we know him as a father, husband, son, brother and friend.

A LIFELONG BATTLE:
Crohn's Disease has left Rick with only 3ft of intestines which is no longer able to absorb the nutrients he needs to function. Without a miracle, his body will literally and slowly starve. Our last hope, outside of God choosing to heal again, are 2 new procedures.

RICK NEEDS YOUR HELP
$25,000 could save Rick Heil's life. Traditional medicine is no longer working. There are 2 experimental medical procedures that might be the miracle he needs. Insurance does not cover these treatments, and he needs to schedule them right away.

I need to ask you for a favor.  Many of you know Rick Heil, the lead singer of Sonicflood.  You may know about his Grammy nominations, Dove Awards, numerous praise and worship albums and worship tours all over the world for the past 20 years.  If you have seen him in concert, then you also know his heart for ministry and how he literally walks off stage to pray with anyone who comes forward.  You may have seen him stay after concerts to talk to every person there, until the last one leaves.  If you have ever been on a Music Cruise with him, then you know that he usually doesn’t ever eat, because he is always praying for people who come up to talk to him.  You know that he has dedicated his life to preaching and spreading hope to those around the world.  You know him as an amazing worship leader, but I know him as my Brother-in-Law Rick.

Many of you may be aware that Rick was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when he was 11 years old.  But here are a few things you don’t know. He has spent most of his life in and out of hospitals dealing with this horrible disease.  At many of his concerts, he had a central line as his only source of nutrition, and would hook up after the concert, then return to sign autographs. After multiple surgeries, he only has 3 feet of his small intestines left, with only about half of that functioning.  Because of the constant struggle with this disease, Rick’s life is really a roller coaster.  He missed his daughter’s 11th birthday because he had to have an emergency surgery. He has missed weddings, Christmas and other major family events and holidays, all because of his health.  There are days when the pain is so intense; it is all but impossible for him to believe there is any hope. These are things you don’t know, because Rick NEVER complains about any of them.

But, as his sister-in-law I have repeatedly witnessed my niece’s and nephew’s faces drop and their hearts broken each time their dad ends up in the hospital. I have seen my sister overwhelmed with trying to keep everything together.  I have also seen the incredible faith this family has tapped into in order to walk through this trial with expectancy of a complete healing.  I also know that even with such faith, enduring the physical struggles can wear down even the most resolved Christian.

Rick’s body is no longer able to function properly; his body is acquiring insufficient nutrients to survive, and he is constantly racked with overwhelming pain. Basically, his body is starving to death due to its inability to acquire sufficient nutrients and fluids. He has been on every medication available for this condition and cannot have any more surgeries. In short, traditionally accepted Western Medicine has exhausted its best efforts and holds no more answers.

However, there exist new procedures; procedures that, of course, insurance will not cover. The cost of having both of these procedures is about $25,000.00 total.  Despite the years of heartache and suffering Crohn’s has wrought, I firmly believe that Rick still has a hope. He still has a future. While we absolutely know and confess that his hope and future both lie in the completed work of Jesus Christ, the Lord has placed it upon Rick’s heart to undergo these two forms of non-traditional treatment.

This is where the favor comes in.  Would you please join me in in this belief, and help support Rick, CeCe and their two precious children in this, their greatest hour of need? Let’s join together and be there for Rick as he walks through this dark night of the soul.  Please consider giving as generously as the Lord lays upon your heart. And as always, please keep him lifted in prayer, and thank you so much for your generous support! The impact of your gift will be seen on the joyful faces of Rick's family; your gift provides them with the priceless gift of HOPE!
