Rally 4 Rick! Help Dad Beat Cancer

Alright, it's time we go digital. In mid-July my father, Rick Bower, was diagnosed with stage 4 squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck. While the news was a big surprise, a previous benign diagnosis earlier made for a frustrating delayed start in the journey to healing. In the past month, my dad has spent his time re-adjusting to a new schedule of doctor appointments and figuring out how to get better without going broke.

That's where you and I come in. While my dad has health insurance, he will still have to pay at least $10,800 in medical bills for this year and leading into 2018, not to mention months of lost wages without supplemental income. My dad is one of the most hardworking guys I know, so naturally he is still hoping to work as much as possible, but has already began missing several days due to appointments and pre-chemo operations. I know he has a physical and mental challenge ahead of him, and I'm looking for your help in lessening his financial burdens.

My main goals are to keep him in his home and offer some peace of mind while he is in recovery from at least six weeks of high-dose chemo and daily radiation. His positive attitude in tackling this has been inspiring to say the least, and while we don't know exactly what lies ahead, I'm already in awe of the love and support he has received from friends and family in Dubuque, Arizona, and elsewhere.
