Rick's Generator for LVAD Pump back-up

My husband Rick,  recently had open heart surgery and had a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD Pump) installed which is battery operated, to help his heart beat until he can get a heart transplant. He is currently in the hospital and is expected to go home in the next several weeks but Doctors have suggested getting a house generator to back up his battery pack in the event of a power outage. The cost of the generator and installation is estimated at roughly $10,000.  I don't normally ask for this type of help but I am desperate and jusr want to make sure he is safe when he comes home.  If we don't get the generator he would have to go the local firehouse to recharge if we lost power.  Rick and I thank from the bottom of our hearts for any help.
